Quick Write: Remember independent reading? Interpret the main character in your novel using the framework of mindset. Does the character have a fixed or a growth mindset? Explain why.

In If I Stay the main character is Mia Hall, at the beginning of the book she has a growth mindset   but throughout the story is hard to tell whether she changed her mindset or if it was the same because she falls into a coma but her soul was outside of her body.

Choose one of the quotes below, interpret it, say whether you agree or disagree and connect it to at least one book you have read.

"You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it." is a quote written by Margaret Thatcher.

This means to me that in life you might have to face problems and battles more than one time to come out victorious. One book I read a while ago can connect to this quote is called the outsiders by S. E. Hinton in the novel the protagonist named Ponyboy goes through a whole bunch of battles and hard times even though hem and his friends were a lower class they didn't stop fighting and never gave up causing at the end of the novel that the protagonist Ponyboy comes out victorious by  making the decision to share his story and begins writing a term paper for his English class, which turned out to be the novel itself.

Quick Write: What does imagination mean to you? How important is it? What about memory? Can you have one without the other?

Imagination means to me the things that only happens in your mind, is not real. I believe is important to have imagination because that is the kind of way for you to imagine and dream stuff and maybe they somehow can be real.Memory is the place where you find all the stuff that you have lived, is what you remember. I think they cant live without other.

Quick Write (Emphasis on Quick): Identify the people, places, things, ideas that make life worth living for you personally.

For me My family makes life worth living, but specially my little brother(He is like my Son), I love him to death and will do anything for him, I fell like is my responsibility to be a good example for him and to keep trying without giving up, and to accomplish the best to give him a better life and future. My parents are also a motivation to keep moving forward, I don't want to disappoint  them and I also feel like I should accomplish my goals and educational purpose to make them feel proud of me and to also give them a better way of life so they don't have to worry and work so hard for me as they do now.it is the way I can Honor them for all they have done for me and all the sacrifices that they make for me.

Sorry, Sad.

Respond to the Quick Write again only in general terms. In other words, what do you think makes life worth living in general? How might this relate to mindset?

I think family, Love, happiness and friends make live worth living. Relating this to mindset, I believe a fixed mindset will be happy with the way things are in his life and wouldn't allow any change because hes comfortable with his life the way it is, but a growth mindset will always look forward to change things in his life to make them better and not matter how many times he fail, he will keep going and looking at the obstacles with a positive attitude.
